The United Kingdom (UK) is committed to support the Government of the Republic of Malawi in various areas aimed at combating financial crimes in the country. The Head of Country Office for the United Kingdom's Department for International Development (DFID) in Malawi, Mr. David Beer, said this during the official presentation of the 2018 Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing National Risk Assessment (NRA) findings in Lilongwe on 20th March 2019. Beer said the UK Government was very pleased for supporting the NRA process through her partner, the International Centre for Asset Recovery (ICAR). "We in the UK Government are committed to helping the Government of Malawi as much as we can. We commit to continue to support law enforcement agencies in Malawi - including the Financial Intelligence Authority - and to help build relations with international law enforcement agencies," he said. The DFID supported the country through ICAR with a consultant and funds for activities on the NRA which started in October 2017 and ended in May 2018.
