A week-long Operational Analysis Training for staff from Financial Intelligence Authority-Malawi, Malawi Revenue Authority, Malawi Police Service, Anti-Corruption Bureau Malawi. and Office of the Director of Public Officers' Declarations has kicked-off today in Lilongwe.
The training is being held with technical and financial assistance from Basel Institute on Governance. In his remarks, Basel Institute on Governance facilitator, Mr. Thierry Ravalomanda, said the training will equip participants with skills to enhance their analytical capacity to effectively use intelligence to supercharge financial investigations.
And speaking when she opened the workshop, Financial Intelligence Authority-Malawi Director General Dr. Jean Phillipo Priminta said skills building in the area of Operational Analysis will help Malawi to be able to identify the extent of criminal networks, the scale of criminality, trace proceeds of crime, terrorist funds and other proceeds and develop evidence which can be used in criminal proceedings to ultimately enhance the overall effectiveness of Malawi’s Anti Money Laundering/Combating Financing of Terrorism regime.
